Saturday 10th October
Goalkeeping errors, slack defending and missed chances cost Bellshill dear in this bottom of the table clash at West End Park. Dimilta got Bellshill off to a perfect start after 2 minutes when his close range effort flew past Lanark keeper Creer to put his side ahead.

The lead lasted just 30 seconds before Lanark’s Gray Rose unchallenged to head a free kick from the right beyond the static Mather for the equaliser. A Fleming cross beyond the defence was missed by Tullis at the far post before McGuire shot past following a corner as Lanark pushed forward.

Lanark went ahead after 21 minutes when Harrison sent Lennox clear and the Strikers powerful effort beat Mather. The home side equalised after 25 minutes when the overlapping Feeney latched onto a Fleming cutback to beat Creer from 10 yards.

With half time approaching Lanark stunned the home side with goals from Cuthill after 41 minutes and McGuire in the 43rd minutes to go into a two goal lead at the break. Bellshil started the second half in a more positive manner than had been shown in the first 45 and visiting keeper Greer denied Dimilta before pushing a Tullis effort behind.

The visitors increased their lead in the 51st minutes when a Jaffery free kick from 35 yards beat the bemused Mather as he flapped at fresh air. Bellshill fought back with goals from Dimilta in the 63rd minute and Murray 3 minutes Later. Lanark were reduced to ten men when McGuire was ordered off for a second booking after 73 minutes.

Bellshill created numerous chances but Greer in the united goal dealt comfortably with the few efforts which hit the target. Lanark completed the scoring with 11 minutes remaining when the Haddow netted from 10 yards.
