  Bellshill Athletic 2 Neilston 2 - 26 January 2008
The large crowd at New Brandon Park were anticipating an exciting encounter as Bellshill attempted to get back on track following last week’s loss at Petershill against a Neilston side on a high after progressing to the 5th round of the Scottish Junior Cup with a home win over Rosyth in their last outing.

The Bellshill defence coped well with early Neilston pressure and a shot from the edge of the box by Muir went close. Neilston took the lead in the ninth minute when R Gillies fired home a stunning free kick from 30 yards.

Bellshill responded to this setback and Boyd, Franchetti and Felvus all had shots on target as they sought the equaliser, which arrived in the half hour mark as Coulter headed home following a corner from the left. As the break approached Neilston were reduced to ten men when midfielder Harkins was ordered off for a foul on Felvus.

Bellshill dominated the early exchanges as the second half began, taking the lead in the 61st minute of the game when Franchetti fired home from close range after a header from Dean Muir rebounded from the bar. The home side passed up several chances to increase their lead and paid the price for failing to do so as Neilston snatched an equaliser in the 84th minute when McGowan nipped in between the hesitant Coulter and Murray to beat McNab from close range.

In a last minute attack two shots from Boyd and a header from Coulter failed to find their way into the back of the net. Earlier in the season this result would have been hailed as a point gained but on recent form this was two needless points lost for Athletic.
