Bellshill travelled to Springburn intent on keeping up their recent good form. After a good start to the game Bellshill fell behind in 7 minutes when Summer signing target, Steve Dallas, took advantage of slack defending to put the home side in front.
Bellshill continued to control the midfield and efforts from Muir and Franchetti kept Petershill keeper Parry alert. In 26 minutes Bellshill got a boost when Petershill defender Joyce was ordered off for violent conduct, for a foul on Bellshill striker Flannery , who was cautioned for dissent. The remainder of the first half saw Petershill pack the midfield as they defended their slender lead. As half time loomed and the fans were heading for the pie stall, Dallas pounced on another defensive error to send the home side two goals ahead at the break. The second half was a dull forty five minutes in which the Bellshill midfield were unable to take advantage of having an extra man and the strikers were clearly unimpressed with the artificial playing surface.
