| Bellshill were on the front foot from the off and Cruickshank blocked a Crozier effort before Robertson saved a Gibson effort from close range.
Home Keeper Wilson saved from McKeown following a corner from the right as Pollok stepped up the pace. Donnie Wilson cleared a Sweeney cross and a McVittie tackle stopped Dingwall in his tracks. Caruth brought Fleming down on the edge of the box but Fry’s free kick was easily cleared. Dimilta and Fleming were causing problems for the Pollok defence and Muir was cautioned for pulling Dimilta down in the 35th minute. From the resultant free kick Crozier’s effort went narrowly over the top with the Keeper beaten. With half time approaching Ian Wilson denied Essier with a fine stop to keep the score line blank. Early second half efforts from Fry and Fleming were saved by Robertson before Gibson headed past close range. Clearly rocked by Bellshill’s determination Pollok replaced Essier and Muir for Turnbull and Hyslop. The changes had an immediate effect and Ian Wilson pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Turnbull and McAuley. Bellshill defence were on overtime as they faced the full weight of the powerful Glasgow outfit. Ian Wilson was at the top of his game as he frustrated his former club aided and abetted by his defence. After weathering the 10 minute storm the home Midfield pushed the scoring in 68 minutes when his header struck the post. Bellshill went ahead in 77 minutes after Caruth fouled McVittie as the full back powered forward Looking for an opening. McVittie cleverly played the free kick sideways to Stuart Livingstone when the Defenders were expecting the ball to be played into the Box. Livingstone took one touch before smashing the ball high into the Pollok net from 30 yards. Bellshill had changes to increase their lead as Pollok defended desperately in the closing minutes. Boyd shot past from 4 yards after Fleming set up the change and Gibson missed from close range following Dimilta’s defence splitting pass.
